The Guild with the assistance of the State Energy Commission of WA and TAFE developed a short course on Powerline Safety. It was principally designed for the tree workers, but it is now popular with other trades i.e. plant operator, electricians, sign writers, Western Power spotters, etc. The Guild assisted the EnergySafety Division to develop the code of Practice for Electrical Safety for Vegetation Control Work near Powerlines and later helped in the development of advanced training for tree clearing from high voltage powerlines. The Guild initiated and helped develop a Certificate in Tree Surgery, in cooperation with South East Metropolitan College of TAFE. It was first delivered in 1991. TAFE has continued to deliver training in Tree Care. Courses which are now run at the Horticulture Training Centre Murdoch Campus, Challenger TAFE. In 1993 with the assistance of WorkSafe the Guild produced a Code of Practice for Climbing, Pruning, Maintaining and Removal of trees. A reviewed 2nd edition was produced in 1998 and is currently available Here. | ||||||||||||
